Orsir Coffee
Orsir Coffee (Chinese: 歐舍咖啡, styled ORSiR) is a Taiwanese coffee company that both roasts and retails coffee at home and buys green coffee directly at origin — including at Cup of Excellence auctions, where its purchases are recorded under the trading name Orsir International Co. Ltd. (Orsir — official site, accessed 2026-07-23, confirmed via WebFetch).
“Green coffee” is unroasted coffee: the raw seed as it leaves the producing country. A green buyer is the party that actually pays the farmer, which is why buyer names on an auction sheet matter — they show where the money for the world’s most expensive lots comes from.
Orsir matters to this wiki because it is one of the East Asian buyers that keeps turning up at the top of Cup of Excellence auction tables. It is the only Taiwanese buyer currently documented here on a COE record lot, alongside better-known Japanese and Chinese names like Saza Coffee and Grand Cru Coffee. Taiwan’s other well-known specialty house in these pages, Simple Kaffa, is primarily a café and competition roastery; Orsir’s centre of gravity is the buying.

All of the above comes from Orsir’s own site, fetched directly (Orsir — about, accessed 2026-07-23). The company describes itself as having pioneered fresh in-store roasting in Taiwan and offering “tailor-made roasting” — the same bean offered at up to five different roast levels, chosen by the customer.
The sourcing side is the part that puts it on auction sheets. Orsir says it has sent cuppers to producing countries every year since 2002 to visit farms and buy finished green coffee back to Taiwan, and that by 2009 it had visited more than 300 farms across 13 countries (same source). A “cupper” here is a trained taster; sending one to origin rather than buying from an importer’s list is what direct trade means in practice.
To verify
Which corporate name is the legal one. Orsir’s own site gives the registered entity as 歐舍咖啡有限公司 / Orsir Coffee Co., Ltd. with tax ID 97384707, but the Alliance for Coffee Excellence records its auction purchases under “Orsir International Co. Ltd.” These may be two registrations of one business — a domestic retail company and a trading company — or one entity under two English renderings. Nothing here was checked against Taiwan’s corporate registry. The engine report behind this note could not confirm either name.
The founding year is also unsettled. The about page says 1993; the site footer reads “Copyright 2002~2026”, and 2002 is the year the company dates its origin trips to. 1993 is stated here because it is the company’s own explicit claim, but no third party confirms it.

Two purchases are documented on the Alliance for Coffee Excellence’s own official results tables — the strongest kind of source there is for who bought what.

Indonesia 2023 — the whole winner
At the 2023 Indonesia Cup of Excellence, Orsir bought the first-place lot outright: Ijen Lestari, 91.41 points, 396.83 lb at $45.50 per pound. That is the cleaner of its two wins — one buyer, the top coffee in the country, no split and no consortium.
The price looks small next to Panama’s four-figure headlines, and that is the useful part. Indonesia’s COE is a young competition in an origin without Geisha’s marketing history, so its top lot clears at a fraction of what a Best of Panama winner does. To verify
What the Indonesian coffee actually was. A post attributed to Orsir’s own Facebook page describes the lot as a carbonic-macerated coffee from Ijen Lestari and calls the $45.50 bid the auction’s highest — but that is the company’s own account, reached only through a search-result snippet and not fetched directly. Ethiopia 2024 — half of the record lot
At the 2024 Ethiopia Cup of Excellence, the winning coffee from smallholder Basha Bekele in Bensa, Sidama was large enough to be split into two auction lots carrying the same 90.50 score and the same first place. Angelino’s Coffee of California took 1A at 350.10/lb, $81,044.65, with ACE listing the buyer as “Orsir International Co. Ltd., SAZA COFFEE” (same source).
So Orsir did not set the record — but it paid the second-highest price at the auction that did, on the same coffee, on the same day. Trade reporting credited the winning bid on 1B to Taiwan’s Orsir International specifically.
To verify
How Orsir and Saza Coffee divided lot 1B. ACE names both companies on one line. Whether this was a buying consortium with Orsir fronting the bid, or Saza taking a share from Orsir afterwards, is not stated in any source consulted here. The same open question is flagged on Basha Bekele and Saza Coffee — this note does not resolve it.
What is not established
The research behind this note went looking for more and did not find it, which is worth recording so the same ground is not re-covered.
To verify
- Best of Panama. No official BOP results page or buyer list consulted here names Orsir or 歐舍. Taiwanese buyers are active at BOP generally, but Orsir’s participation is unconfirmed. Do not assume it from its COE record.
- Memberships. No confirmation of SCA, CQI or ACE membership or certification. ACE lists Orsir as a buyer, which requires registering to bid, not membership.
- Its own claims about scale. “More than 300 farms across 13 countries by 2009,” and the claim that it has bought COE-winning lots from several countries, come only from Orsir’s own about page. The two auction lots in the table above are the only ones independently documented here.
- Founder and ownership. No founder name, shareholder or corporate history was found in any accessible source.
